Password mask

Previous  Top  Next

If you already know some characters in the password, you can specify the mask to decrease the total number of passwords to be verified. Masks are only available for fixed-length passwords.

Example: if the password contains 8 characters, starts with an 'x', ends with '99', and the rest of the characters are small or capital letters, then the mask will be "x?????99". The charset is All caps and All small.

If you know that the password contains an occurrence of the mask character '?', you can choose a different mask character.  In this case, you can change the mask symbol from '?' to '#' or '*', and use a mask pattern of "x######?" (for mask symbol '#') or "x******?" (for mask symbol '*'). Select the mask symbol in Advanced Options.
